Janko Tipsarevic is the winner of the HYPO ALPE-ADRIA OPEN 2006, the fifth tennis tournament from the Challenger series, organized in Belgrade by the Tennis Club GEMAX. In today’s finals, in front of the sold-out stands and with the great support of the spectators, Tomas Cakl retired due to the shoulder injury at the result of 6:4 and 4:1 for domestic national team player. Janko has thus become second domestic player who won the GEMAX Tournament. The Prize Money this year has been the biggest so far – 100.000 US dollars. Mr. Djordjo Antelj, the president of the GEMAX Company, has handed over the cup to the winner.

Q. Can could you sum up how was the game for you? Was it a big surprise or did you feel quite soon that Marat was not in a good day?

JANKO TIPSAREVIC: I was not thinking before I started the match that Marat is like a big, huge favorite of the match, first of all, because I played him one time before and was really, really close to beat him in most quarterfinal end of last year.
